The empty alcohol bottle and the shot and the knife were depressing, but I didn't think the pile of dirty clothes added to that. I liked the lighting and the ticking.
I enjoyed how many different shots you had, I didn't quite get the feeling of depressed until the end. Maybe some light ambient music in the back would help? I don't know. Good job though.
I wish you had more motion. I liked the shot with the faucet but it seemed too bright. Also liked that you expressed emotion without showing a single person.
I think I got boredom out of this more than depression though you could argue boredom does come with depression. I think it would have worked a bit better if we had a shot of someone being depressed, just even close up of a depressed face would have helped. Otherwise it was nice and I really enjoyed you different shots and the ticking of the clock.
The things that were shown, like the whiskey, were good indications of the emotion. I liked that it showed the clock and the pile of clothes, like he didn't care about cleanliness. It worked well.
The elements you showed clearly defined depression. I liked the sound you have, it created the feel of waiting for something to happen, but you know that nothing is going to happen.
I like the ticking of the clock but I didn't feel depression. I felt like I was waiting on something to happen. There were so many different random shots but my favorite was the one of the tree outside.
I thought all of the images fit well with depression, but the dripping faucet took me out of it just a little bit. I sort of see where you were going with it, but in viewing it - it took me out of the emotion just a little. The knife seemed to go to a very dark place.
I don't know if your video was necessarily depressed. I get that you were trying to use objects to represent that but it felt more anxious and isolated especially with the ticking in the background. The alcohol and life were very intense towards depression/suicidal though.
Felt pretty depressing. The one thing I have to mention about the technical side is that I personally felt that the shot of the tree lasted far longer than it should have. Beyond that though, it had some great visually pleasing shots, like the one with the rum and the shot glass. The clock ticking was definitely a good addition.
You had good shots for the emotion but I would have changed the music. It felt more of like a clap instead of a moody tone.
ReplyDeleteI liked how you never showed a person, just the objects that fueled their depression. It made me want to see the person behind the depression.
ReplyDeletei really enjoyed the audio of this piece. Especially the ticking of the clock. I also liked the use of black and white scenes with the color shots.
ReplyDeletethat really downed my mood...in an appropriate way. you portrayed the emotion well. great job!
ReplyDeleteI got the depressed emotion until the end when you just tilted up to the wall and it stopped there
ReplyDeleteThe shots were all visually interesting on their own. It's cool to see the story come together through these shots.
